A strong narrative matters for EB-1A

About me:

My name is Jason and I work with top immigration lawyers on educational resources related EB-1A, EB-2 NIW, and O-1. Most of the profile-building insights I share in this newsletter come from my work with these lawyers.

Updates to the Resources:

  • Added some SWE and AI-related profile-building opportunities to the database.

  • Spoke to an IET fellow and fellowship advisor yesterday. He has joined the private group and is open to answering your questions about the IET fellowship.

  • Spoke to an ACM journal reviewer yesterday and am now in the process of setting up a workshop with her.

As a paid subscriber to this newsletter, you get access to:

  • My EB-1A/EB-2 NIW/O-1 profile-building opportunities database (270+ opportunities so far, updated every 2-3 days). Once you become a paid subscriber, I will share this spreadsheet with you.

  • Video resources (recorded question and answer-style videos with EB-1A recipients and also resume review videos).

  • My guides to EB-1A and EB-2 NIW profile-building.

  • My reviews of AAO decisions (which go into USCIS’s reasoning for denying an EB-1A/O-1 petition). I review both EB-1A and O-1 decisions.

  • My contacts database (these are universities, event organizers, and people involved in relevant organizations that I have spoken to, you can mention my name if you decide to reach out to them).

  • My private EB-1A/O-1 profile-building group (link below).

  • Here are some reviews of the newsletter.

Once you become a paid subscriber, I will share all of the above resources with you via Google Drive (links below).

A strong narrative matters for EB-1A.

It’s the lens through which you want an officer to review your argument and the evidence you present.

Here are some examples based on profile-building calls I've done.

  • I protect U.S. companies and prevent major cybersecurity threats from causing major damage every day through my work, which affects hundreds of U.S. companies. My work in cybersecurity regularly helps keep hundreds of key U.S. companies operational (and as a result protects jobs as well). As an adaptable cybersecurity practitioner, I am also continually experimenting with the latest cybersecurity tools in AI and fintech to expand the scope of my work and in the future protect even more top U.S. companies from the ever-expanding list of major cybersecurity threats.

  • I redefine how top U.S. companies perceive AI and its usefulness. As an AI practitioner, I have through my work and research been able to deliver significant results for top U.S. companies in fields ranging from finance (millions in revenue retained) to healthcare (my research has been used by top professionals in healthcare who previously did not consider using AI in their work), highlighting the importance of AI as a tool for U.S. companies to take seriously to remain globally competitive.

Present a narrative that makes sense to people who have never worked in your field.

Why?

Because USCIS officers have not worked in your field and will be approaching your case from a layperson's perspective.

Also be sure to tie your narrative to everyday life to drive home the point that your work has vast impact.

For example:

  • My work keeps U.S. companies that run grocery stores and gas stations operational.

  • My work has helped more efficiently allocate billions in healthcare funding, resulting in more people in the U.S. getting access to the healthcare they need and at lower costs.

  • My work has helped keep top U.S. banks operational and safe from major cybersecurity threats.

What to not do when profile-building

Without a narrative for your profile, you may actually end up building a weak profile that may get denied on final merits.

Even if you are able to present strong evidence and accomplishments that show that you have risen to the top of your field.

Here’s why.
